Hello Ladies and Gents,

SOMA is having its first Music and Art Challenge. For those of you who weren’t there for the meeting, the premise is pretty simple and should be a lot of fun. We’re going to invite any of you aspiring musicians or artists to take a shot at creating a piece of music or artwork within certain predefined criteria, and then see how everybody went about creating unique and awesome works of art.

For the first Challenge, we’re going to keep things simple: Your goal is to create a piece of music or art based off of a random Wikipedia article.

1. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
If you get stuck with a really short article that simple can’t be used, just click the “Random article” link on the left of the page.

2. Make a piece of music or artwork based on that article

3. Send the song and the link to the wikipedia article along with your name to chomskyftw@gmail.com. Put “SOMA Challenge” in the title if you can!

Around the end of the month, we’ll be posting all of the results on the SOMA website. If any of you need help recording, scanning, or sending the files or have any questions just shoot an email to chomskyftw@gmail.com or message me and we can help you out.
